Toyota has recalled 7.43 million vehicles worldwide – included 2.4 million in the United States – because a faulty power window switch can cause a fire eruption.The recall includes more than a dozen models manufactured between 2005 and 2010. The problem stems from the manufacturer’s failure to properly apply grease to the power window master switch during production.General Motors has recalled its 2009 Pontiac Vibe for the same reason.Defective parts in cars can lead to tragedy on the road. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat. That recall was triggered by a high-speed crash that killed four members of a family. Some critics complained it took some time before Toyota acted.
