Suit Filed In Deadly Georgia Church Van Crash

Published November 23, 2010 by Scott Gottlieb, Injury Law Attorney

Georgia’s WTVM reports the family of a 20-year-old who died as the result of a fatal church van crash has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the maker of the 1986 Dodge van.

On October 3rd, the church van belonging to Columbus’ Tabernacle of Prayer and Deliverance Church crashed on the way to a revival in Florida, injuring 15 people and killing four. Investigation into the crash showed a rear tire blew out, causing the van to flip over.

The girl’s father claims Chrysler, the maker of the 15 passenger van, knowingly designed, manufactured, and distributed a van intended to carry cargo and not passengers. R & J Tire Company is included in the lawsuit claiming they failed to properly inspect and sold a Michelin tire that was placed on the van.

Chrysler claims the van exceeds all federal safety standards and has an excellent safety record.
