Drunk Drivers Cause Injuries in Two Separate NY Accidents

Two accidents this weekend shine a light on the dangers of drunk driving.  According to WHEC-TV, a drunk driver struck a woman who was getting out of her parked car in Rochester early Sunday morning.  In the second incident in Gates, just outside Rochester, a drunk driver seriously injured his passenger when he ran a stop sign.

Our Binghamton car accident attorneys are shaken by these two drivers who displayed such a disregard for the safety of others on our highways.  These accidents are indicative of the potential dangers on our roads in the Binghamton area.

In the first accident, the woman who was struck while exiting her car was the victim of a hit-and-run driver who was not only drunk behind the wheel, but was also charged with texting while driving.

The victim was admitted to Strong Memorial Hospital in guarded condition.

Police also reported that another drunk driver sped through a stop sign and slammed into a tree in a yard after he ran off the side of the road.  His passenger suffered from an amputated arm and other serious injuries as a result of the crash.  He was taken to the hospital where he is now in guarded condition.

The driver, who was found a half-mile from the scene after fleeing, was charged with DWI and vehicular assault.

Each of these accidents occurred in the early morning hours when, as a percentage, most drunk driving accidents occur.  Encourage anyone you have seen drinking to take alternate transportation to keep our NY roadways safe.
