$3 Million Awarded To Mother Whose Baby Was Injured During Birth

The Chicago Sun-Times reports a Pilsen woman has been awarded $3.27 million by a Cook County jury in her lawsuit against the Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and the doctor who delivered her baby.

In 2002 it was known the woman was expected to deliver a large baby.  The woman’s lawsuit alleged her doctor, Dr. Jennifer Friedman, did not advise her of the risk of having a vaginal delivery with such a large baby and did not offer her the option of having a C-section. As a result, her son’s shoulder got stuck during delivery and the doctor pulled too hard on the infant’s head and neck, causing injury to his right arm.

Since his birth, the now 8-year-old has had to have three surgeries and still does not have full function in his arm.

During labor and delivery, medical complications can result in birth injuries.  Experience counts. If your infant has suffered a birth injury and you suspect those injuries were caused by medical negligence, contact the law offices of Scott C.
