Family Receives $1.44 Million From Maryland Hospital

The Baltimore Sun reports a $1.44 million jury verdict for the family of a man who died of sepsis at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland. The jury found the doctor failed to provide proper medical care for the patient.

Three doctors along with the hospital were named in the lawsuit. The 59-year-old patient was treated with a broad-spectrum antibiotic and admitted to the hospital by a doctor who suspected sepsis. The patient died the day after being admitted.

The hospital and two other physicians settled out of court.
