$10 Million Awarded for Injuries in Ambulance Birth

Fox News reports a Florida jury has awarded $10 million to a woman who sued an ambulance service for injuries her son received in 2003.

EVAC Ambulance service was sued for negligence alleging the paramedics caused her son’s birth injury which resulted in his having cerebral palsy. The mother was only six months pregnant when she gave birth on the way to the hospital. Her son had trouble breathing and the paramedics performed CPR, but the baby still suffered from a lack of oxygen to his brain, causing life long disabilities.

Other parties named in the lawsuit previously settled for $1.4 million.
