Boating Accident Kills Five

CBS News reports five men are dead in Louisiana after their 24-foot aluminum boat ran under one end of a barge about 60 miles southwest of New Orleans.

The men had planned to take part in a weekend fishing tournament when their boat hit the moored barge late Wednesday night but the bodies were not found until Thursday morning. Investigators do not know if the barge was lit at the time of the accident. Apparently the men hit their heads on the barge’s slanting underside. Approximately 3,000 entered in the fishing contest which began on Friday.

Recreational boat crashes are governed by a number of city, county, and state laws. If you have been injured in any kind of NY boat accident you may have the right to compensation if someone else’s negligence cause your injury. In the extremely unfortunate event that a loved one’s death has resulted from a boating accident, you may have a wrongful death claim.
